Launch and forum:
Rebuilding from the Ground Up: An Alternative to the NT Intervention
Public forum and new media launch with Barbara Shaw from Mt Nancy town camp, Alice Springs

'Rebuilding from the Ground Up' is an 11 point alternative program to the discriminatory NT Intervention.

It has been widely endorsed by Aboriginal leaders and rights groups including the full council of the Central Land Council, Tangentyere Council, the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) and Australian for Native Title and Reconciliation (ANTaR).

The Alternative program is based on Aboriginal community control and sustainable investment in all communities.

Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning research unit is proud to launch a new media collaboration supporting this program and showcasing the voices of Aboriginal people directly affected by the Intervention.

Barbara Shaw, an Aboriginal leader from Mt Nancy town camp in Alice Springs has been instrumental in putting together Rebuilding from the Ground Up.

Come along to this new media launch and hear first hand about the destructive impact of the Intervention and the struggle for an alternative.

About the Forum

The Campaign of the Say No to Government's Income Management: Not In Bankstown Not Anywhere has gathered momentum locally and nationally and has gained support from a range of organisations and groups. The campaign coalition is now holding this forum for Bankstown residents, service providers and advocates to hear first hand about the experience of the Income Management under the Northern Territory Intervention.

The Forum will also be an opportunity for you to learn more about the concerns of the welfare sector and to hear what long time advocates are saying about this policy. You will also learn more about the campaign, how you can be part of it and how you too can take action to protect the rights of people on social security.
