Koori Mail - Amnesty urges Govt to uphold commitment - 13 September 2011 - AMNESTY International's Indigenous Rights Campaigner Rodney Dillon has added his voice to calls for the Federal Government to uphold its commitment to Indigenous rights. The Government signed the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in 2009, after initially refusing, along with Canada, United States and New Zealand, while the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration in 2007. -

Koori Mail - Gooda calls for action plan on Indigenous rights - 13 September 2011 - ABORIGINAL and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner Mick Gooda has accused the Australian Government of being slow to implement the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, despite having signed the document four years ago. Mr Gooda said the Government should engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to negotiate and develop an action plan to give full effect to the declaration -
